Chimney Maintenance tips
- Service your fireplaces and
chimneys during the spring &
summer months.
- Soot is corrosive. Remove winter
deposits from your system at the
end of your burning season.
- It is recommended that all
chimneys in use, be inspected and
combustible deposits removed at
intervals no greater than every 12
months or as often as necessary.
Depending on usage, some
systems can require multiple
cleanings a year.
- Think ahead, never light your
fireplace if you are unsure of the
last time it was serviced or checked
by a professional.
- Chemicals used for helping break
down creosote deposits in your
system are nothing new to the
industry. Products claiming to
remove creosote deposits are in no
way a replacement for having your
fireplace serviced by a qualified
professional. Some of these
products used properly, along with
routine sweeping can be very
effective.
- Have your system maintained by a
WETT Certified Professional.
